KNYSNA NEWS - Christelle September, a teacher from Sunridge Primary School in Hornlee, Knysna who has represented teachers' union Sadtu for the past four years in athletics as well as curriculum training, scooped a National Teaching Award two weeks ago.
This year, September answered a call again from her union to represent them in 1 500m and 800m athletics events, which led to her eventually reaching the national team and bringing back bronze after competing in Zimbabwe.
She views this as one of the biggest achievements of her career thus far and says she is grateful towards the union for believing in and supporting her.
The teacher also won bronze at a recent regional National Teaching Award ceremony for Eden district for teaching excellence in Grade R.
Says September, "I can never thank my principal Mr Solomons and colleagues enough for their unwavering support throughout my journey, for believing in me and nominating me hard work really pays off."
