PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A German couple and their toddler have been rescued after they got into trouble in a gorge on the Kalanderkloof Trail near Natures Valley.
NSRI Plettenberg Bay duty coxswain Ross Badenhorts says their crew were activated at around 18:00 on Monday evening after their coast watchers confirmed that the couple were in trouble.
Badenhorts says because of a heavy downpour with hail their swift water rescue team was placed on high alert as a precaution.
NSRI members found the the couple in a gorge on the trial. Medical treatment was provided to the woman who injured her leg.
Badenhorsts says a high angle technical rope rigging system was established that made it easier to get the young couple and their toddler up the slope.
In a technical rescue operation they were successfully brought out of the gorge and were transported to a hospital, in Plettenberg Bay, where the woman received medical care for her injury.
