GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - New youth donors are vital to the sustainability of the WP Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) blood donor database, as each year the need for blood and blood products increases.
The WPBTS continues to forge good ties with educational institutions and regularly sets up blood donation clinics at schools.
The majority of schools host blood donation clinics once every term.
Spine Road High in Mitchells Plain made the biggest blood donation in the Western Cape, contributing 438 units of blood over four blood donation clinics.
In the Garden Route, Outeniqua High School led with 335 units (fifth highest in the province), followed by Punt High School in Mossel Bay with 312 units (seventh in the province) and Langenhoven Gymnasium in Oudtshoorn with 272 units (tenth in the province).
WPBTS sincerely thanks all contributors for their commitment.
