KNYSNA NEWS - A family of four in Rio Street suffered an armed robbery last night, Monday 3 August, shortly before 21:00.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, “a case of house robbery was opened following an incident at a residence at Rio Street, Knysna on Monday, 3 August at about 20:45. Preliminary investigation reveals that four suspects entered the residence and accosted the occupants.”
The family was robbed of jewellery, cellphones and other personal items before the suspects fled the scene.
“Some of the stolen items as well a backpack with house breaking implements were later recovered in the bushes near the house,” Spies confirmed, also noting that no arrests have been made yet and the investigation continues.
According to information distributed by the Owls Neighbourhood Watch, the family is traumatised following the incident, but not harmed.
They also urged residents to remain vigilant, and to refrain from leaving the house if they notice any strange behaviour, and instead report any strange behaviour to their armed response immediately.
