Knysna news - Watch out! Theft out of motor vehicles is again on the increase. Please ensure you leave nothing in your vehicles and where possible, park in a locked and alarmed garage.
PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA
ATTEMPTED THEFT - GORDON STR (Sat 6 January @ 04h30) - Allsound guard reported that 2 women tried to steal plants from the property but fled when disturbed by the guard. Vehicle details were obtained but owner declined to open a case.
BURGLARY - NEW STR (Sat 6 January @ 12h14) - Client telephoned to report a break-in. Window was forced and cash box was pulled out. Incident suspected to have taken place during the night. SAPS were notified.
COMMON ROBBERY - MAIN RD (Sun 7 January @ 01h30) - Pedestrian stopped our Response Vehicle and reported that he was robbed by 2 unknown men who stole his wallet and cellphone. Officers searched area but didn't find anyone matching the description. Victim was advised to open a case with SAPS.
BURGLARY - TROTTER STR (Sun 7 January @ 12h21) - Client reported suspicious activity from neighbouring property. Officer found fence forced and a window forced open. Owner was notified and confirmed a laptop was missing. No case was opened.
THEFT OUT M.V. - GRAY STR (Mon 8 January @ 20h00) - Allsound Response Officer reported car was broken into. CCTV footage was reviewed providing excellent clothing description of suspect. Owner of vehicle was traced and informed.
THEFT OUT M.V. - QUEEN STR (Tues 9 January @ 07h09) - Client phoned our Control Room to report that vehicle was broken into. Guest unsure of what was missing. No case opened at the time.
THEFT - QUEEN STR (Wed 10 January @ 08h54) - Suspect stole vehicle rim from business and then tried to sell it back to them. Officer responded and recovered rim. Owner declined to open a case and suspect was released.
SHOPLIFTING - WATERFRONT DR (Wed 10 January @ 15h37) - Officers responded to panic alarm after suspect tried to steal and flee. Suspect was apprehended and items recovered. Case was opened with SAPS and suspect was charged.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA
ATTEMPTED THEFT OF/OUT M.V. - BOKMAKIERIE STR (Fri 5 January @ 03h28) - Resident telephoned to report that 3 suspects had just tried to open their vehicle parked in the driveway. They fled when owner disturbed them. Nothing taken.
THEFT - SUNVALLEY DR (Mon 8 January @ 08h19) - Client reported that items were stolen from their boat some time during the night. Fishing tackle boxes, tools and fishing knives were reported missing. No case was opened.
THEFT - BOEKENHOUT STR (Tues 9 January @ 03h02) - Client reported that suspect reached through open sliding door and pulled handbag through security gate. SAPS were notified and Allsound Officers searched area for suspect.
HUNTERS HOME / REXFORD / FISHER HAVEN
THEFT - LINDSAY STR (Fri 5 January @ 13h21) - Client reported that a gas bottle was stolen from the property. Time of theft unknown.
THEFT - MARLIN DR (Sat 6 January @ 17h27) - Client request assistance after they caught a child stealing from property next door. Another 3 children got away. SAPS and keyholder were notified. No case was opened and juvenile was released.
BELVIDERE
THEFT - ROBERT GRAY (Thurs 4 January @ 13h21) - Client telephoned to report that a female suspect entered the house via open door and took cash from handbag in the bedroom before fleeing. Area was searched for description of coloured female in her mid 20s, no one found.
THEFT OUT M.V. - FISH EAGLE DR (Sat 6 January @ 03h16) - Client reported a trespasser on property. It was discovered that 2 vehicles on nearby properties had been broken into. Nothing visibly missing. Officers searched area, suspect not found.
BURGLARY - UPPER HILL STR (Mon 8 January @ 04h44) - Client activated the panic alarm after hearing intruder in the house. 2 iPhones and a handbag were missing. Case was opened.
BURGLARY - UPPER HILL STR (Mon 8 January @ 11h03) - Keyholder reported a break-in at main house. Suspect forced open window to scullery. A gas bottle and alcohol was reported missing. SAPS were notified and a case was opened.
LAKE BRENTON / BRENTON ON SEA
BURGLARY - BRENTON RD (Mon 8 January @ 00h11) - Officer responded to alarm from premises and confirmed positive break-in. Force marks were found on door and keyholder was notified. An amplifier was reported missing and alarm system was damaged. SAPS were informed and area also searched.
BURGLARY - STRYDOM STR (Mon 8 January @ 08h14) - Client reported that they had a break-in the previous night. Suspect entered via sliding door and stole cash from handbag. CCTV footage was reviewed and a case was later opened.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - YELLOW WOOD CRES (Mon 8 January @ 08h49) - Client reported an attempted break-in at property. Sliding door was forced but nothing missing from premises. No case opened.
