KNYSNA NEWS - PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA
SHOPLIFTING - MAIN ST (Thurs 30 August @ 13h52) – Allsound guards reported that a suspect was apprehended for shoplifting and stolen goods were recovered. Suspect was charged and taken into custody by SAPS.
ATTEMPTED THEFT - LEAGUE ST (Sat 1 September @ 11h52) – Client reported that someone tried to steal his geyser during the night. They cut perimeter fence and tried to pull geyser off wall. No case opened.
THEFT - MAIN RD (Sun 1 September @ 07h15) - Allsound guard requested assistance after apprehending a suspect for stealing a fire extinguisher. SAPS were notified, case was opened and suspect was charged with theft.
COMMON ROBBERY - MAIN RD (Sun 2 September @ 18h38) - Our control room received a call to report that a lady was robbed of her bag. A nearby security officer had given chase and the suspect dropped the bag. Cash was reported missing. No arrests were made.
BURGLARY - QUEEN ST (Mon 3 September @ 07h25) - Client telephoned to report that a guest room was broken into during the night. Entry was gained via unlocked door. A camera and 2 backpacks were stolen. Case was opened.
BURGLARY - MAIN RD (Mon 3 September @ 07h25) - Keyholder phoned to report a break-in. Suspect/s removed window pane and stole clothing and CD Player. 2 suspects were arrested the following night in possession of items linked to the break-in.
BURGLARY - MARKET ST (Tues 4 September @ 06h00) - Officer responded to alarm signal and confirmed a positive break-in. Windows were forced open and keyholder reported that 3 laptops were missing. Case was opened.
THEFT OUT M.V. - LEAGUE ST (Tues 4 September @ 16h00) - Gentleman phoned in to report that a weedeater was stolen off the back of his bakkie earlier in the afternoon. CCTV footage was reviewed. Town area was searched but no suspects matching the description were found.
THEFT OUT M.V. - LEAGUE ST (Wed 5 September @ 07h14) - Allsound Officer found vehicle with broken window. The owner was traced and confirmed that nothing was stolen. Case was opened at the Knysna Police Station.
THEFT FROM M.V. - QUEEN STR (Wed 5 September @ 12h17) - Client reported that they found 4 hubcaps on their property. These were later linked to the theft of hubcaps in Queen street. Items were returned to the owner. No case was opened.
THEFT - BOND STR (Wed 5 September @ 15h11) - Client telephoned to report that 2 men were busy stealing items from burnt property. Officers responded and apprehended 2 suspects in possession of a door and basin. SAPS were notified and both suspects were charged.
KNYSNA HEIGHTS / PARADISE
ATTEMPTED THEFT - LLOYD ST (Tues 4 September @ 15h48) - Officer responded to panic alarm. Tenant reported that a suspect was on the property with belonging in his arms. Suspect dropped the items and fled when he was disturbed. Nothing reported missing, no case opened.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA
THEFT - MILKWOOD DR (Thurs 30 August @ 06h42) - Client phoned to report that her handbag was stolen from her flat through open window. No information on suspect or time of incident. SAPS were notified for a case to be opened.
INDUSTRIAL AREA / HORNLEE / NEKKIES
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - PROGRESS RD (Tues 4 September @ 03h04) – Client phoned to report a break-in in progress at neighbouring property. Officers responded and spoke to tenant. The suspects fled when he disturbed him and no access was gained to the premises.
LEISURE ISLAND
THEFT - GEORGE AVE (Thurs 30 August @ 08h14) - Resident reported that the sail cover of their boat was stolen off their boat. No other info could be supplied or suspect identified. No case opened.
