KNYSNA NEWS - PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA
THEFT OUT M.V. - LEAGUE STR (Thurs 14 February @ 10h21) – Client reported that his neighbours car was broken into. SAPS were notified for a case to be opened. Owner reported that an umbrella was missing.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - TROTTER STR (Thurs 14 February @ 21h35) - Officers responded to alarm from perimeter beams and panic. Suspect had climbed into courtyard and onto deck of flat. No entry was gained. Suspect fled.
BURGLARY - WATERFRONT DR (Fri 15 February @ 06h58) - Gate Guard activated the panic after resident reported a break-in at premises. Resident reported that suspect was in their home at approximately 01h30 that morning and stole a cellphone. Suspect entered via a bathroom window. SAPS were notified for a case to be opened.
BURGLARY - WATERFRONT DR (Fri 15 February @ 08h10) - While officers were attending to above, another resident reported that a laptop was missing from their unit. SAPS were referred to owner and a case was opened.
THEFT OUT OF M.V. - FICHAT STR (Sat 16 February @ 04h20) - Allsound Officer radioed to report that a vehicle had been broken into. Guesthouse owner was notified. Guest was unsure what was missing.
ATTEMPTED THEFT OUT M.V. - VOORTREKKER STR (Sun 17 February @ 18h57) - Client pressed the panic after seeing someone trying to break into his vehicle. Officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect. No case was opened as suspect was a juvenile.
POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY - VOORTREKKER STR (Sun 17 February @ 19h35) - Client requested assistance after cornering a suspect hiding in some bushes. Suspect was found to be in possession of a purse which was linked to a break-in the previous night in the area.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - WATERFRONT DR (Sun 17 February @ 22h51) - Officers responded to perimeter beam alarm. An eye witness reported seeing 3 suspects on the roof of the property. Suspects jumped off the roof and fled into nearby bushes. One of the suspects was apprehended and handed over to SAPS.
THEFT OUT OF M.V. - WATERFRONT DR (Mon 18 February @ 08h05) - Client requested assistance after his staff apprehended a suspect inside one the of vehicles. Suspect was charged with breaking into motor vehicle.
THEFT OUT OF M.V. - QUEEN STR (Mon 18 February @ 08h22) - Client telephoned to report that a vehicle was broken into. A pair of hiking boots was reported missing. Case would be opened by guest.
BURGLARY - WATERFRONT DR (Mon 18 February @ 08h54) - Client reported that an outside storeroom was broken into during the weekend. A vacuum cleaner, iPod shuffle, carpets and other small items were missing. Owner of the goods would open case with SAPS.
SHOPLIFTING - MAIN RD (Mon 18 February @ 09h57) - Allsound guards reported that a suspect was apprehended for shoplifting. Stolen goods were recovered and suspect was handed over to SAPS.
BURGLARY - GRAY STR (Mon 18 February @ 11h40) - Allsound guard reported that a pedestrian requested help after being robbed of her handbag at an ATM in Gray street. Footage was reviewed but out of range of cameras. Victim opened a case with SAPS.
SHOPLIFTING- MAIN RD (Wed 20 February @ 12h56) - Officers responded to a panic alarm. A well-known suspect was apprehended for shoplifting. Store declined to open a case and suspect was released.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA
COMMON ROBBERY - LINKS FOOTPATH (Sat 16 February @ 15h05) - Client reported that someone was robbed on the footpath below Costa Sarda. Officers responded and confirmed that 2 suspects had reportedly cut the backpack off a tourist. A cellphone and wallet were in the bag. Officers searched the surrounding area, suspects were not found.
THEFT - HOLIDAY CRESC (Tues 19 February @ 06h25) - Client reported that a cellphone and laptop were stolen from one of the guests. Suspect reportedly pulled out out of open window while guests slept. Case was opened.
INDUSTRIAL AREA / HORNLEE / NEKKIES
BURGLARY - NOETZIE (Sun 17 February @ 16h55) - Client pressed her panic after seeing a suspect on the neighbour's property. Officers responded and confirmed that store room was broken into. Owner was unavailable to confirm if anything was missing.
HUNTERS HOME / FISHER HAVEN / REXFORD
BURGLARY - SUNNINGHILL DR (Thurs 14 February @ 20h35) - Allsound Guards requested assistance after resident reported an intruder in her home. Intruder fled empty-handed when the resident spotted him. Allsound Officers and SAPS members responded and searched area, no arrests were made.
KNYSNA HEIGHTS / PARADISE
THEFT - UITSIG STR (Fri 15 February @ 15h41) - Scholar reported that cellphone was stolen from the property. Attempts were made to track the phone without success. Case would be opened at the Knysna Police Station.
THEFT - MAIN STR (Sat 16 February @ 14h30) - Client telephoned to report that someone entered house while she was busy and stole her cellphone and handbag. No clothing description available.
RHEENENDAL / PHANTOM RIVER
BURGLARY - RHEENENDAL RD (Sat 16 February @ 21h20) - Officer responded to alarm signal and found door lock broken and security gate padlock broken. Keyholder was notified and confirmed that a TV and Decoder were missing. Case was opened with SAPS.
BUFFALO BAY
THEFT OUT OF M.V. - WALKER LANE (Wed 20 February @ 07h14) - Client reported that their car was broken into during the night. Camera equipment and beach items were reported as missing. SAPS were informed and a case was opened.
