KNYSNA NEWS - PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA
COMMON ROBBERY - TROTTER STR (Fri 11 January @ 12h33) – A member of the public requested assistance after witnessing a lady being robbed by an unknown assailant. A description and location of the suspect was provided. Allsound Officers responded and the main was apprehended. He was found in possession of a knife, wallet and bank cards. Suspect was handed over to police pending a case being opened by the victim.
POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY - QUEEN STR (Fri 11 January @ 13h46) - Member of the neighbourhood watch reported that a man was trying to sell a camera. Officer responded and detained the man on possession of suspected stolen goods. SAPS were notified and suspect charged accordingly.
BURGLARY - WATERFRONT DR (Fri 11 January @ 16h29) - Officer responded to alarm signal and confirmed that a window at the back of the property was open and a computer screen lying on the floor. While on site, officer heard people screaming at nearby property where the suspect had run through. Officers gave chase and the suspect was apprehended with the assistance of the public who blocked his escape. A case of burglary was opened and suspect was charged after being positively linked by CCTV footage.
THEFT - LONG STR (Fri 11 January @ 16h55) - Keyholder phoned to report that her cellphone was stolen out of the shop while she was busy packing up. CCTV footage showed 2 suspects entering the shop. A description was provided and CBD area was searched. No arrests were made.
THEFT OUT M.V. - MAIN RD (Fri 11 January @ 22h38) - Allsound Officer noticed vehicle window had been smashed. Contact was made with the owners who confirmed that a bag of clothing and shoes was stolen. Case was opened.
THEFT OUT OF M.V. - CLYDE STR (Sat 12 January @ 06h40) - Motorist stopped an Allsound Officer to report that his car had been broken into some time during the night. Two bags containing baby items were reported missing. SAPS were notified for a case to be opened.
BURGLARY - FICHAT STR (Sat 12 January @ 17h37) - Client reported that 2 flat screen TV's were stolen from guesthouse. Guests reported seeing people on the property around 11h00 that morning. SAPS were notified and a case was opened.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - QUEEN STR (Sun 13 January @ 04h07) - Officer responded to alarm signal from premises and found a well-known suspect hiding in the bushes on the property. Suspect was taken into custody. Owner confirmed nothing missing.
BURGLARY - FICHAT STR (Sun 13 January @ 11h00) - Client reported that a small freezer and guests cellphone were stolen during the night. Access gained via open door to unit.
THEFT - GRAY STR (Sun 13 January @ 11h14) - Officer spotted 2 suspects tampering with a fence. When he stopped, suspect fled. Keyholder was notified and confirmed that 6 poles and a length of fencing had been stolen. No case opened.
BURGLARY - CLYDE STR (Sun 13 January @ 14h00) - Client reported a suspicious person in the neighbouring property. Officer responded and confirmed that a window was broken and items were found lying outside. Suspect had fled the property.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - WATERFRONT DR (Sun 13 January @ 19h20) - Officers responded to a panic alarm. Staff reported that a suspect tried to break-in at the back door but fled when staff spotted him. No entry was gained.
ATTEMPTED THEFT - GRAY STR (Sun 13 January @ 19h58) - Client telephoned for assistance after a suspect tried to grab a customers wallet and fled. An excellent description was provided to the responding Officer who apprehended the suspect down the road. Suspect was handed over to SAPS. No case was opened as the suspect was a juvenile.
THEFT - GRAY STR (Sun 13 January @ 20h15) - Client phoned to report that cash was stolen from an unlocked safe in guests' room. The theft was suspected to be an internal matter. SAPS were notified.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY - NEW STR (Mon 14 January @ 18h45) - Client phoned to report that 2 suspects tried to rob one of his staff at knifepoint. The suspects fled empty-handed. No case was opened.
ATTEMPTED THEFT OUT M.V. - LAKEVIEW STR (Tues 15 January @ 03h55) - Allsound Camera Operator spotted 4 suspect on camera trying to break into a vehicle. Officers were dispatched and all 4 suspects were apprehended. They were found in possession of house break-in implements and handed over to SAPS.
BURGLARY - BOND STR (Tues 15 January @ 16h14) - Resident telephoned to report a burglary at his home. Suspect climbed a drain pipe to 2nd floor balcony. Two laptops and a digital camera were missing. Incident had occurred between Saturday and Tuesday.
BURGLARY - HILL STR (Wed 16 January @ 05h46) - Night receptionist pressed the panic button after guest reported an intruder in their room. Suspect entered via an open window and stole 2 cellphones, 2 wallets, a watch and pair of sunglasses. One of the cellphones was dropped by suspect and recovered. SAPS were notified and case was opened.

THEFT - GEORGE REX CNR VIGILANCE (Fri 11 January @ 17h29) - Member of SAPS requested assistance after a lady reported someone tried to sell her a stolen cellphone. Suspect fled when the lady said she would phone police. Officers assisted to search the surrounding area. Cellphone had reportedly been stolen from a residence in Old place.
ATTEMPTED THEFT - BOEKENHOUT STR (Sat 12 January @ 12h29) - Client notified our Control Room that during the night he woke up to see a persons arm reaching through his window. Suspect had used a long stick to try pull valuables from table. Nothing was stolen, no case was opened.
THEFT - HERONS WAY (Sat 12 January @ 23h14) - Resident reported that a suspect used a stick to reach handbag which was pulled through open window. Allsound Officers and SAPS members searched the area. Suspect was not found.
THEFT - HOLIDAY CRESC (Sun 13 January @ 17h20) - Resident phoned to report a suspect entered via open door, grabbed laptop and fled. A clothing description was provided and Officer searched the surrounding area. No arrests made.

BURGLARY - BOSWERKER STR (Sun 13 January @ 05h14) - Officer responded to alarm signal and confirmed break-in. A door had been forced open. Owner responded and confirmed nothing missing. No case was opened.
BURGLARY - NEKKIES (Wed 16 January @ 08h43) - Client phoned to report a break-in at the premises. A window frame had been removed but no entry was gained to the premises. Nothing reported missing.
BRENTON ON SEA / LAKE BRENTON
THEFT - CAPTAIN DUTHIE DR (Mon 14 January @ 10h15) - Resident stopped our Response Officer to report that his laptop was stolen. An unknown man had come to the house asking for food. The homeowner invited him in and gave him something to eat and drink. He later noticed that his laptop was missing. Suspects identity was known to Allsound and later that afternoon Allsound and SAPS Officers apprehended the suspect and recovered the stolen laptop.
