KNYSNA NEWS - PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA
THEFT - WATERFRONT DR (Thurs 1 November @ 15h49) – Client phoned to report that they noticed 3 pairs of sunglasses missing. When reviewing CCTV footage, they identified the suspect. Description of suspect was broadcast and he was later arrested in Sedgefield. Suspect was charged and the stolen items were recovered.
COMMON ROBBERY - MAIN ST (Fri 2 November @ 01h30) - Allsound Officer stopped to assist a lady who was robbed of her cellphone. It was then discovered that this lady was in possession a handbag which she had stolen earlier. The owner was identified and handbag was returned, regrettably no case opened by the original victim.
BURGLARY - GRAY ST (Sat 3 November @ 05h20) - Guest reported that her room was burgled. Suspect entered via an open window on 2nd floor and stole a cellphone, watch and wallet. A second guest later reported that they too had a burglary. Both victims opened cases.
BURGLARY - FICHAT ST (Sun 4 November @ 00h05) - Allsound Camera operator noticed 3 possible suspicious persons on one of the Neighbourhood Cameras. Officers were dispatched to investigate. The 3 men were taken into custody after being linked to a break-in. The stolen items were recovered. Suspects were handed over to SAPS.
ATTEMPTED THEFT - VOORTREKKER ST (Sun 4 November @ 07h14) - Client phoned to report that a suspect entered via an open door and tried to steal. Suspect dropped the goods and fled empty-handed. Suspect was apprehended but no case was opened and had to be released.
THEFT - LONG STR (Wed 7 November @ 07h57) - Officer responded to a panic. One of the guests reported that their wallet was stolen out of their bag. No suspects could be identified. Case was opened at the police station.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - BOEKENHOUT ST (Sat 3 November @ 07h40) - Client telephoned to report that a suspect tried to force open her sliding door but fled when she disturbed him.
BURGLARY - BOEKENHOUT ST (Sat 3 November @ 07h48) - Officer was dispatched to a panic signal. Outside storeroom was found open but owner was unable to confirm what was missing. A Suspect was caught shortly after these 2 incidents at another property in the area. Suspect was handed over to SAPS.
INDUSTRIAL AREA / HORNLEE / NEKKIES
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY - PROGRESS ST (Sat 3 November @ 08h10) - Client reported that their perimeter fence had been cut sometime during the night. Nothing visibly missing from the property.
HUNTERS HOME / REXFORD / FISHER HAVEN
THEFT OUT OF M.V. - THESEN ST (Sun 4 November @ 08h06) - Client reported that their vehicle was broken into during the night. 2 Cordless Drills were stolen and a jacket. No case was opened.
KNYSNA HEIGHTS / PARADISE / HEUWELKRUIN
THEFT - MEYER ST (Wed 7 November @ 15h18) - Resident stopped our Response Officer to report that someone was stealing stuff from burnt-out property. Officer spotted the suspect running on Salt River and requested back up. Suspect was apprehended and found in possession of copper cables. No case was opened.
SALT RIVER / GREEN PASTURES / BLARRICUM
BURGLARY - BLARRICUM (Sun 4 November @ 11h23) - Officer responded to alarm signal and found glass from bathroom window removed. Keyolder and owner were notified. Nothing was visibly at the time. No case was opened.
RHEENENDAL / PHANTOM RIVER
ATTEMPTED THEFT - RHEENENDAL RD (Sun 4 November @ 04h02) - Allsound Guard requested assistance after 4 suspects cut perimeter fence and tried to steal planks. Suspects fled when the guard approached. Area was searched by response, no arrests made.
