KNYSNA NEWS - On Saturday 2 July, artists and businesses from Knysna and the Garden Route at large descended on the Love Life Youth Centre in Joodsekamp for a special afternoon of celebrations.
The event was called Ghetto Experience and was put together by Hashtag Tours, a tour agency that specialises in cultural roots, heritage walks, nature and special interest travel.
Owner Anita Best explained the reasoning behind organising the event.

"We want to provide a means for young entrepreneurs from the township to promote themselves and their businesses/services in ways they might not otherwise have been able to," she said, adding that the motivation extends past businesses and entrepreneurs.
"There are so many incredibly talented artists, poets, dancers, you name it, that we want to help provide a platform for."
Organiser Anita Best hopped on stage to welcome everyone in her lovely outfit.
Best did just that with Ghetto Experience on Saturday, which kicked off at 14:00. There was a total of 13 artists who performed at the event, including poets, instrument players, rappers, musicians and dancers. The list of performers included Ayabonga Mapasa, Emihle Tembani, BLXCK 187, Nyakaza Mafaka, Bonga "Chowder" Nkohla, Shannon Laminie, Sonwabise "Barbie" Mbalo, MrChaos iBhubesi LeKariega, Mivuyo & More-Ink, Nolukholo Ntaka, AJG, Vinny and Ocean Geno.
It proved to be a successful afternoon as the performers showcased their talents and businesses put themselves on show, with everything from food stalls to clothing designers setting up shop for the event.
