KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Wildlife Project (KWP) and Knysna Rocks are hosting a beach rock hunt on 31 March at Nautical South restaurant in Brenton-on-Sea.
“The whole initiative started with wondering how to be more environmentally responsible over Easter weekend," said KWP's Anel de Bruin.
“Then I met Ashley Barnes from Knysna Rocks, a fun project where children and adults alike get the opportunity to paint and hide rocks throughout Knysna for people to find.
"When asked why she started the Knysna Rocks, Ashley simply replied that people in Knysna needed a reason to smile after the fires.”
De Bruin and Barnes put their heads together and with great support from organisations like the Brenton Ratepayers' Association and Knysna – Mission Zero Waste 2021 and many more, the whole event grew into what will hopefully become an annual event.
If you want to join into the Rock Painting fun, paint you Easter-themed rock and drop it off at AvoPomme before Wednesday 28 March.
The hunt starts at 09:00 on Saturday 31 March at Nautical South restaurant, and after a quick introduction the kids will be taken down to the beach where they will go “rock hunting”.
Each rock will have a number on that corresponds with a prize, and there are some awesome prizes up for grabs – from great Easter packages to a two-hour family boat trip out at sea.
The rest of the day’s activities will include a jumping castle, tug-of-war competition, sack race, and much more – all with an environmentally friendly twist. So bring the kids for a day packed with awesome fun.
Tickets cost R25 and will be on sale at AvoPomme Creative Hub in Woodmill Lane, at Shop on Sea in Brenton and on the day.
You can also WhatsApp Anel on 082 610 2667 or email KnysnaWildlifeProject@gmail.com.
You will need your ticket to claim your prizes and each ticket also includes a free cup of coffee at Nautical South and a surprise free gift from Shop on Sea.
