KNYSNA NEWS - Ling Dobson, founder and sponsor of the Knysna Literary Festival, this week handed over a bursary to the value of R10 000 to Knysna Primary School principal Rob Stoker and learner Lixa Sithonga.
Dobson, owner of main festival sponsor Pam Golding Knysna, said the money was raised during the recent panel discussion at Île de Païn with political analyst Moeletsi Mbeki, media specialist JJ Tabane, Mari Harris of market research and a consulting firm Ipsos and World Bank senior economist Marek Hanusch.
“The discussion on the night reiterated the importance of skills to uplift the country’s economy, and this is our commitment as the Literary Liaison to lay the foundation for well-educated South Africans with a variety of skill sets," Dobson said.
Stoker said the school chose Sithonga as he is a promising student who actively enjoys sport and achieves well academically.
“He unfortunately lost his mother due to cancer this year and this donation is a great blessing to assist him and his father,” the principal said. – Supplied
