GEORGE NEWS - The N2 will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 18 October, between the Pacaltsdorp interchange and the interchange at the Garden Route Mall.
All N2 traffic from the Cape Town and Knysna directions will be diverted through George for the day, along Knysna Road, Courtenay Street and York Street.
Route 12 rerouted
Route 12 Pacaltsdorp - Garden Route Mall will be rerouted for the day. Delays must be expected since it will take longer to get to the Mall via town.
The same arrangements will apply on Monday evening, 22 October, when traffic will again be diverted through George so that the roadworks can move to the opposite side of the highway.
Delays for a longer period
As of Friday 19 October, for the next six to eight weeks, the cross-overs in the area of the pedestrian bridge might cause delays on Route 12 due to possible bottle necks and a speed limit reduction to 40 km/h along this section of the N2.
For now, rerouting will only take place on Thursday 18 October and the evening of Monday 22 October.
Traffic police will be in place to help guide traffic and minimise disruption of traffic flow.
