KNYSNA NEWS - The DCAS Adjudication Showcase was held in Rheenendal on 16 September, offering youth the opportunity to submit their developed scripts to professional drama adjudicators on a professional platform.
Youngsters came from Plettenberg Bay, Knysna and Swellendam to strut their stuff and for three hours they kept the audience thoroughly entertained with unique and diverse productions.
Themes covered included gender-based violence, neglect and there were even interpretative pieces featuring Mother Nature and her animals.
Award-winning director from the Baxter Theatre Mdu Kweyama added prestige to the occasion and provided valuable feedback to the participants.
For the hopeful participants, their performances could pave the way towards performing at the highly anticipated DCAS Drama Grand Finale in February 2024.
The event aligns with the annual DCAS drama initiative, supported by the Knysna Municipality, which aims to identify exceptional talent and provide further development opportunities in acting, writing, and directing.
