KNYSNA | BITOU NEWS - After no active cases last week, Bitou is back to five this week, while Knysna has recorded its first death in three weeks.
As at Wednesday morning, 24 March, Knysna has recorded a total of 4 783 cases of Covid-19, of which 4 609 have recovered, 161 have died, and 13 are active cases.
This indicates 10 new cases in Knysna following the reallocation of cases to other areas last week, and is also the first death recorded since Wednesday 3 March, three weeks ago.

The number of active cases is once again lower than last week, the fourth consecutive week this has happened in Knysna. The recovery rate now stands at 96,36% with the mortality rate at 3,4%.
In Bitou, 2 726 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded, with 2 614 having recovered, 107 having died, and five being active cases. These numbers reflect nine new cases in Bitou this week, its second-lowest number in March thus far.
The five active cases this week are a jump from the total absence of active cases last week, with four of the nine new cases moving towards recovery. It also marks two consecutive weeks in which Bitou has not recorded a new death, with the mortality rate standing on 3,9% and the recovery rate standing on 95,89%.
