KNYSNA NEWS - Rotary Knysna recently hosted another successful e-Waste Day at Loerie Park, which doubled as a fundraiser for the Pledge Nature Reserve.
Members of the public were encouraged to stop by Loerie Park on Saturday 4 March to drop off any unwanted e-waste and, if they were willing, to add a donation to Pledge Nature Reserve.
This was the fifth Rotary Knysna e-Waste Day, and it proved to be a great success with a total of R4 400 raised for Pledge and lots of e-waste taken off people's hands.
"Protecting the environment is one of the key areas of focus of Rotary International," said Knysna Rotarian Carol Wilkinson.
"The Knysna Rotary Environmental Committee organises e-waste collection days to encourage responsible recycling and disposal of unwanted electronic and electrical goods."
Rotary does not benefit financially from providing this service, but rather supports charities or organisations such as Pledge Nature Reserve wherever possible.
The next Rotary Knysna e-Waste Day will be held on Saturday 3 June at Loerie Park from 08:30 to 12:00.
