GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Due to the pandemic, the worldwide City Nature Challenge was downscaled from a competition to an event, and even though participants were house and garden-bound during the four days of the challenge from 24 to 27 April, Pledge Nature Reserve in Knysna is thrilled that the Garden Route came 10th out of 250 cities with its count of 17 743 observations.
Cape Town came first with 34 289 observations and second for the number of species at 3 273. The Garden Route is sixth with 2 748 species.
Altogether there were 812 371 observations of 32 715 species by 41 087 participants.
