KNYSNA NEWS - The Epilepsy SA Southern Cape/Karoo branch recently handed over the Tekkie Tax floating trophy for the business that shows the best spirit to Allsound Security, who won the prize for the second year in a row.
The trophy is offered every Tekkie Tax Day as a token of appreciation from the Epilepsy SA branch for the concerted efforts that businesses make to raise awareness of the organisation, as well as their fundraising efforts on the day.
Each year, Epilepsy SA challenges businesses to go all-out and dress up for Tekkie Tax to have a chance to win the trophy.
An independent judge selected Allsound as the winner. There was also a prize for the pre-school that raised the largest amount through buying Tekkie Tax stickers or tattoos and other fundraising efforts during the campaign. This prize went to Knysna Montessori Pre-School.
The Tekkie Tax campaign is held annually to raise vital funds for Epilepsy SA, with the Southern Cape/Karoo branch in Rio Street our local beneficiary of the campaign.
The campaign revolves around the idea of paying "tekkie tax" to wear some funky shoes or even civvies to work or school for a day in the month of August. However, this year, due to the uncertain nature of the Covid-19 pandemic, the organisation opted for a full month of celebration.
