PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Bitou Muncipality has placed the decontamination of Plettenberg Bay’s high risk areas on hold following concerns raised by the community.
The municipality in a statement said that during a council sitting on Thursday it decided against the proposed “fogging” of the town.
It further said that it was a suggestion that was tabled at a Bitou COVID 2019 task team meeting as a measure to potentially reduce the impact of the novel Coronavirus.
“The Bitou council notes that, all over the world various methods are applied to try and prevent the spread of the virus. Fogging could perhaps have made a huge impact on fighting the virus. However, there is still a lot of suspicion around this method and at this stage it may cause a lot of alarm and stress among residents who already have to deal with the growing numbers of positive cases reported as well as the looming lockdown. Therefore, council have decided not to approve the proposal at this stage.”
