GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Riders from clubs across the Garden Route showed their support for the third "Ride for a Child" charity motorbike ride last weekend.
Dr André Hatting, founder and executive director of Pediatric Care Africa, left Mossel Bay early last Saturday, 26 February, to join riders from the district at the Sasol garage N2 in George.
"We had magnificent support from motorbike riders Saturday and Sunday with dozens of motorbikes escorting us into and out of Jeffrey's Bay and up to Gqeberha," said Hatting.
"We always arrive and ride the Garden Route on a weekend, to ensure as many riders as possible can join and support us."
The goal is to raise R250 000 to provide medical treatment, surgery and nutritional assistance to 1 000 underprivileged children in need of these commodities.
Hatting left Louis Trichardt on Sunday 13 February and will have completed 7 000km on road bike by the end of his journey.
On Sunday 27 February he reached the 5 000km mark in East London. His route took him to the most northern, southern, eastern and western points in South Africa accessible by road bike.
