KNYSNA NEWS - A special evening that lay dormant for three years, has reawakened at Oakhill School. An exciting evening which transported taste buds around the world, yet, still leaving room for the main course: Oakhill's annual fashion show.
The 2022 SRC Food Evening and Interact Fashion Show will be remembered as the event which reignited the true Oakhillian spirit in students, parents, and teachers.
Around the World
The transformation of the school quad from, 'The Joy of Learning' to 'The Joy of Feasting', kicked off the evening. The SRC, with the assistance of students, teachers, and parents, did a phenomenal job organising the food evening, catering not only to the stomach but also to the eye.
From South African (Grade 12) desserts to India (Grade 11) for a mouth-watering curry, not forgetting the stop in Mexico (Grade 10) where everyone was greeted with flavour-packed burritos. A brief stop was made in America (Grade 9) for a burger with next in line a taste of 'Grease' before finishing the journey in Italy (Grade 8) with everyone's favourite pasta dish.
Musical fashion show
To wrap up the world tour, all flew back to America for the Interact Committee's 'Grease' musical themed fashion show. The school hall was beautifully decorated to reflect this popular musical.
The models (Grades 10-12) shone on stage, walking the catwalk each with their own unique style. Hosts Giorgio Pesto and Carly Howard made sure there was never a dull moment while the models changed outfits. The audience was so moved by the performances that the sound of their applause reverberated through the air.

Of course, no one can forget the evening's most memorable moments: the teachers' strides and the matrics taking a final strut down the runway to parade their spectacular matric dance outfits. It wouldn't be an Oakhill fashion show without the matric boys showing off their superb dance moves.
A message of thanks goes to all our sponsors - De Jagers, Diana Loon Boutique, Harbour Bay, Salt. Life. Clothing, Surf Culture, The Fix, Tiger Lily Activewear, Total Sport and Two on Toast Clothing Boutique - for making the event possible.
The production was sizzling hot - an evening of laughter, food, fashion, and flavour. This extraordinary evening of fundraising will enable Interact to broaden its community outreach into next year.
