SEDGEFIELD NEWS - The fire which gutted parts of Smutsville this afternoon, has been contained by fire and rescue services.
According to Knysna Municipality's communications team, the cause of the fire is unclear at this stage. They did however confirm that "fortunately, there is no loss of life".
The communications team also confirmed that their fire and rescue services received assistance from firefighting crews from both the Garden Route District and George municipalities.
According to reports received from residents, a total of 35 homes burnt in the fire, which started in the Beverley Hills area of Smutsville before spreading elsewhere.
