SA Police Service officers deployed for trio crimes and gangs in the Nyanga policing cluster arrested three suspects, aged between 38 and 40, in Gugulethu on Saturday for possession of 96 live LMG (light machine gun) rounds, spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said.
“The live rounds were found in a plastic bag hidden in the bathroom of a premises they… searched after following up information received,” he said.
The suspects were detained at the Guguletu police station and would appear in the Philippi Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges off illegal possession of ammunition.
“The same members also arrested and detained a 25-year-old suspect in possession of an unlicensed 9mm Norinco firearm with two live 9mm rounds while doing stop and searches at about [4.30pm] in Dyakalashe Street, Philippi East area.”
