KNYSNA NEWS - Police members and part of the Knysna-based Tsitsikamma K9 unit recovered a stolen Somerset West vehicle and arrested two suspects in connection with the theft on Sunday 24 April.
"Preliminary investigation suggests that the 42-year-old victim parked her Toyota Hilux Double-cab bakkie in a parking area at Somerset West on Saturday 23 April at about 13:15," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies.
"On her return she discovered that the vehicle was gone and immediately reported the matter to police."
Police circulated the news of the stolen vehicle and members of the K9 and Knysna Crime Prevention units deployed along the N2.
Not long thereafter the police officers pulled over a vehicle along the highway that matched the description of the missing vehicle.
"They approached the driver who was unable to account for his possession thereof," said Spies. "He and his female passenger were subsequently arrested. The suspects, aged 34 and 26, are facing charges of possession of stolen property and theft of a motor vehicle."
The duo appeared in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Monday 25 April.
