KNYSNA NEWS - In a display of vigilance and effective collaboration, a shoplifting syndicate was apprehended in Knysna. Prompt action by an alert retail store manager together with the coordinated efforts of Allsound Security officers, Knysna police members and police K9 units, resulted in the arrest of four females and one male.
At approximately 11:00, one of the retail store managers at Knysna Mall became suspicious of a possible shoplifting syndicate operating within his store.
He promptly informed Allsound Security officers at the mall, sharing his concerns about several missing items.
Allsound Security personnel immediately took action. They identified the vehicle believed to be used by the suspects and relayed the crucial information to their control room. An alert was broadcast to security officers, and within minutes, the vehicle was spotted by members of the Allsound response division in Long Street.
Visual observation of the vehicle was maintained while assistance came from Knysna Police and police K9 units.
Thanks to the seamless collaboration between Allsound Security and Knysna Police, the vehicle was intercepted just outside Knysna. Police members, supported by Allsound Security personnel, took the suspects into custody.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, multiple suspected stolen items were discovered, indicating the involvement of the syndicate in thefts from approximately six different retail stores.
The police will provide a follow-up next week.
