GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Instead of the usual nine there will only be eight vaccination sites open in the Knysna and Bitou area this week, with the Keurhoek Satellite Clinic not set to be administering vaccinations this week.
With the latest age group, 18 to 34, being added to the list of people who can now receive their vaccinations, the total number of vaccine registrations in the Western Cape has surpassed 1,5million, standing on 1 543 141 as at Sunday 22 August.
In only four days of registration, there have already been 192 772 registrations in the 18 to 24 group.
This equates to 35,52% of the number of people registered in the 35 to 49 group (542 645); 59,10% of the 50 to 59 group (326 161); and 40,03% of the 60+ group (481 563).
In the Garden Route there has been a total of 146 371 registrations - 9 514 in the 18 to 34 age group, 43 738 in the 35 to 49 group, 31 806 in the 50 to 59 group, and 61 313 in the 60+ group. The district has seen 35,39% of the eligible population register for their vaccinations.
The vaccination site schedule for Knysna and Bitou this week is as follows:

- Knysna Community Day Centre (CDC) – Monday 23 August to Friday 27 August
- Knysna Town Hall – Monday 23 August to Friday 27 August
- Sedgefield Clinic – Monday 23 August, Thursday 26 August and Friday 27 August
- Karatara Satellite Clinic – Monday 23 August (today)
Bitou
- Kwanokuthula CDC – Monday 23 August to Friday 27 August
- Kranshoek Clinic – Thursday 26 August
- Plettenberg Bay Town Clinic – Monday 23 August to Friday 27 August
- Crags Clinic – Tuesday 24 August
The priority for vaccines is as follows at vaccination sites:
Priority 1: People 60 years and older requiring their first and second dose of Pfizer vaccine.
Priority 2: People aged 50 to 59 years requiring their first dose.
Priority 3: People aged 35 to 49 requiring their first dose.
Priority 4: People aged 18 to 34 requiring their first dose.
