The payout took Dabengwa’s total remuneration last year to R40.6-million‚ Johannesburg based MTN said in the company’s annual report published yesterday.
Phuthuma Nhleko‚ who returned as executive chairman to resolve the Nigeria penalty after Dabengwa left‚ was paid R5-million for work from November 9. The fine remains unresolved.
MTN shares have declined 24% since the fine was made public in October. The fine was later reduced to $3.9-billion.
Last week‚ MTN reported it lost 4.5 million subscribers in Nigeria as it moved to comply with the government’s demand that it properly registered its customers.
