BUSINESS NEWS - The Simola Hillclimb is honoured to be nominated for the Best Event Organiser award in the 2026 Best of Knysna & Plett Readers’ Choice Awards for the second consecutive year.
This recognition reflects the passion, dedication and professionalism of our team, who work tirelessly to deliver a world-class event that continues to put Knysna on the global stage.
Following the successful 16th edition of the event, the Simola Hillclimb remains South Africa’s premier motorsport event and one of the most respected hillclimb competitions in the world.
Since its inception in 2009, it has grown into a major tourism attraction that draws competitors, spectators, media and partners from across South Africa and beyond.
The 2026 event welcomed a record 20 926 spectators and generated an estimated economic impact of R62.4 million for the local economy.
The event’s digital footprint also continues to expand, with more than 910 000 live-stream views and over 7.3 million minutes watched, showcasing Knysna and the Garden Route to audiences in more than 120 countries.
Winning this award would be a meaningful acknowledgement of the support of our partners, suppliers, volunteers, local businesses and community.
