GARDEN ROUTE NEWS & VIDEO - A cold front is expected to bring wave heights of 4 to 5m and wave periods between 11 and 13s together with strong to near gale force winds along the south coast are expected this afternoon, Tuesday 9 July.

This may result in storm surge between Stilbaai and Plettenberg Bay, particularly around high tide in the afternoon.

Impacts

Localised damage to coastal infrastructure (eg walkways, pipelines, property, road and rail routes) is possible as well as localised flooding of low lying coatsal areas (eg coastal inundation). 

Localised disruptions to beach front activities (eg closure of beaches for swimming, shore/rock angling) is possible.

This warning is valid from 14:00 until 20:00 on Tuesday 9 July.
