On Thursday 24 May, the u16 Greenwood Bay College (GBC) netball and soccer teams left for their first official sports tour in the Eastern Cape. There was excitement aplenty and the spirit of all the players and coaches was high. In what seemed a much shorter bus drive than we all had expected, we arrived at St Dominic’s, a large co-ed independent Catholic school in Port Elizabeth. It was a thrilling soccer match and anyone could have won, but unfortunately GBC went down 3-4. Simba Gandane scored all three goals, and although we didn’t get the result we wanted, confidence levels were up.
