GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Networking Wednesdays

• The Knysna Networking group comes together for two Wednesdays every month, with like-minded business individuals meeting to network. For more information you can contact Gudrun Cox on 072 699 4174.

Sunday Church Services

• St George's Anglican Church in Knysna's Main Street holds the following church services on Sunday: Sung eucharist at 08:00, followed by a family service and Sunday school at 09:45. All are welcome. For any further information you can phone 044 382 1239 between 08:00 and 14:00 on weekdays.

Calling all embroiderers

• The Knysna Embroiderers Guild meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at Cearn Hall on Leisure Isle. Everyone is welcome to join as a guest with a view to joining the Guild. For more information you can contact Berry Prentice on 082 2169 666.

• Sedgefield: Wild Oats Community farmers' market every Saturday morning (an award-winning market with over 60 stalls of the finest local farm produce, home bakes, plants and flowers, outdoor breakfast and live music), Scarab Craft Village and Mosaic Market, all in close proximity along the N2.

• Plettenberg Bay: Harkerville Saturday Market every Saturday morning offers food, art and craft and more, on the N2 midway between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

• Rheenendal: Totties Country Market every Sunday between 10:00 and 15:00. At the market you can leisurely lunch overlooking the Totties gardens, enjoy farm-fresh flavours, taste local cheeses, jams, preserves, balsamic glazes, and all sorts of delicious food and drink! The Knysna Model Trains and playground are on show too.

• Mel's Place will host award-winning musician, singer, and jack of all trades Dino Miranda on Thursday 4 August as he recently announced his Coast to Coast Tour to South Africa. The tour will also present Miranda with the opportunity to share his latest 2021 single, Moçambique, with his audience.

A prolific composer, arranger and producer, Miranda's music is a blend of afro-pop, marrabenta and fusion. However from time to time he will choose to delve strictly into one of the above, creating a distinctive sound that he alone has mastered and which gives him his distinctive idiosyncrasy.

• Better Live will be bringing Gareth James & co. to Blend Country Restaurant once more on Saturday 6 August for his show THE REVIVAL: Cat Stevens & Rodriguez. The music of these legendary artists evokes a feeling of nostalgia, which is exactly what this tribute is designed to do.

The show will feature the hits of Cat Stevens (Wild World, Father & Son, Moon Shadow), Rodriguez (Sugarman, I Wonder, Rich Folks Hoax) and many more. The band consists of Gareth James on acoustic guitar, bass drum and vocals, and Tyrone Marinus on acoustic guitar, keyboard and vocals.

Both of these talented artists are huge fans of Cat Stevens and Rodriguez and intend to bring you the best revival show to hit SA. Tickets available at www.quicket.co.za.
