GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Fresh off the launch of their new album, The Book of Miriam, The Black Cat Bones will be performing two shows between Knysna and George in the coming weeks, and are set to rock the stage.
The group has reason to celebrate - their new album has proved to be a triumph, with several songs reaching the 'Top-10' playlist on major radio stations. And now they're hitting the Garden Route, loud and proud, for the last of the album launch tour series.
Founded in 2007, The Black Cat Bones are one of South Africa’s hardest working bands, renowned for their captivating live performances that truly put them in a class of their own, drawing on a widespread and loyal fan base.
With a back catalogue of four previous self-released albums since 2009, including the SAMA Award ’Best Rock Album’ winner Beatpiller (2013), the band has continued to evolve both as songwriters and in studio.
Signing to leading indie label Just Music in 2020, a significant fresh take on the production effort in association with the label and producer Mathew Fink at Atomic Studios, has seen the band rise to an unprecedented level in the making of their new album Book of Miriam.
Local Knysna music events company Better Live makes no bones about the fact that this band is one of their all-time favourites: "The first time I saw these guys perform, my jaw dropped to the floor," says Dominic Morel. "They are easily one of the most charismatic and musically diverse acts I've ever seen - and I've seen a lot!" Jackie Barham of Better Live adds, "They've headlined two of our Knysna Blues Festivals, but they very much deserve the whole stage."
The tour kicks off on Friday 4 November at the Music Kitchen in Gqeberha, then Knysna at Blend Country Restaurant on Saturday 5 November from 19:00 (with local guest opening act Cal Motto-Ros, a super funky band based in Wilderness) and concludes at Mujo Bar & Restaurant in George on Sunday 6 November at 14:00 for an afternoon show (with locals Betty's Nuklear taking the crowd-warming spot).
The organisers maintain that this is "one show you don't want to miss. "They're epic!".
