ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - South African television presenter Katlego Maboe is going after his ex Monique Muller and women organisations that supported her after the cheating scandal that left him unemployed last year.
After taking almost a year hiatus, following the damning video of him confessing to cheating was leaked, Maboe wants compensation of R1 million, IOL reports.
The publication cites a Netwerk24 article that reported Maboe sent a legal letter of demand to Muller, her brother, Sabrina Walters, the founder of Women for Change, and Dr Janet van Eeden, chairperson of the judges for the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) Saftas.
The demand was for the four parties to apologise and retract statements made against him, as well as R1 million from each in compensation for damages.
After being nominated at the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) in the best presenter category, his nomination was later rescinded by the awards organisers, because of the backlash from activists and ordinary South Africans who were concerned that he was being praised amid abuse allegations.
Muller called her former partner’s latest actions a form of bullying.
Posting several stories on Instagram, the gender-based violence activist is not pleased that Netwerk24 did not ask her for comment.
“Please help me understand how I am supposed to comment on an attorney’s letter that the attorney in question has sent to journalists [?] But forgot to sen[d] it to me too.
“The previous attorneys bullying tactics, harassment and unethical behaviour already got her in serious trouble and here we go again (sic),” she wrote.
