Sulger-Buel Lovell is proud to present a group exhibition featuring Isabelle Grobler, Neill Wright (South Africa), Soly Cissé (Senegal) and Paul Sika (Cote d’Ivoire) at Cape Town art fair, 19 -21 February 2016 (booth B3).
The gallery will be showcasing Isabelle Grobler’s sculptural assemblages and paintings. Grobler uses detritus as a point of departure to engage with notions of hierarchies and power relations in a world scattered with economic and socio-political paradoxes. She humanizes obsolete objects by transforming them into characterful, hybrid-machine organisms.
Paul Sika’s technicolour, cinematic photographs seamlessly weave together mythology and realism. Sulger-Buel Lovell will be presenting Sika’s body of work, At the Heart Me for the first time in South Africa. Each frame pulsates with energy, bringing to life the artist's experiences in Abidjan, and imagined journeys through future Africa.
