KNYSNA NEWS - Carpe Musicam! is bringing its Potpourri spring concert to Knysna on Sunday 18 September.
The performance will be held at the Knysna Dutch Reformed Church Hall in Fichat Street at 15:30, and the programme, as its name suggests, is a collection of a variety of music types.
Popular composers such as George Gershwin will rub shoulders with Vangelis, John Williams and Henry Mancini.
A selection of movements from The Carnival of the Animals together with Ogden Nash's witty explanatory verses will delight young and old.
Conductor Norman Carless has been dusting off his trumpet, and has a rather singular version of Astor Piazolla's Libertango up his sleeve, which will remain in the memory long after the last echo has died away.
The CM! Choir will be joining the orchestra for the final four items, which will include Beethoven's Hallelujah! from the oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives.
This is a performance that will stir the soul and is not to be missed.
Book online at www.carpemusicam.co.za.
Refreshments will be on sale for an hour before the concert. The atmosphere is always informal and relaxed, so sit back and enjoy 90 minutes or so of great musical entertainment.
