KNYSNA NEWS - In their second hosting of Knysna's newest pride festival, organisers of the Knysna Peacock Festival are looking to expand their horizons to other venues in town this year.
This year's festival is titled LOVE IS LOVE, and organisers are looking to host much-loved personalities in the LGBTQIA+ community such as Manila von Teez, 3D, local star Shaza and more.
The festival is set to kick off on 17 March and end on 20 March with a grand finale not to be missed, according to organisers.
"We want the whole of Knysna to benefit from this event and hope that businesses will take the opportunity to make the most of it," says Knysna Peacock Festival's Irene van Wyk. "The festival's motto is 'In Knysna, For Knysna, By Knysna'."
In the spirit thereof, event coordinators Irene and Mia van Wyk thanked everyone involved in helping make last year's Knysna Peacock Festival a "booming success".
"We'd like to extend a warm welcome and invitation to all businessowners and entrepreneurs in Knysna and surrounds to actively take part in the festival – whether it be by offering relevant specials, joining the parade, or simply decorating shopfronts and venues in Pride colours – and benefit from a communal effort to re-establish Knysna and surrounds as a premier LGBTQIA+ holiday destination," Mia said.
Should businesses wish to be a part of the festival, there are no royalties payable, and organisers would simply request that a donation be made to one of the festival's listed charities.
For more information, the full event line-up, venues and dates, or to take part as a partner, you can contact Irene van Wyk on info@knysnapeacockfestival.co.za or visit www.knysnapeacockfestival.co.za.
Local artist Shaza will also be performing during the festival.
