KNYSNA ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Following the release of Hoofstuk Een (Chapter One) of their third album, and as part of their Sewe Somers (Seven Summers) tour, folk pop duo Bottomless Coffee Band will be taking to the Southern Cape with four shows lined up for December.
The duo, Lourens and Esté Rabé, will be introducing their new album, Prediker, in four segments at the start of each new season, with Hoofstuk Een officially released on Friday 4 December, along with the music video for the first single, Sewe Somers.
Hoofstuk Een comprises three songs, Sewe Somers (Seven Summers), Alles en Niks (Everything and Nothing), and Ek wou nog (I still wanted to).
The lead single, Sewe Somers, is about the seven summers Lourens and Esté have been a married couple. The message is simple: "Dream together; it will give you wings. And then, through the ups and downs, keep liking each other."
The album was inspired by a life-changing experience in the United States in January this year, as well as the unpredictabilities surrounding the Covid-19 lockdown. "We chose to make the best of the gift of time we were given during lockdown and used the unpredictable times as inspiration - fuel for creativity," Esté says.

Lourens and Esté believe in camaraderie and teamwork, and for Prediker they assembled a specialist team for every individual song.
"It helps that every engineer and their team worked on the things they like, thereby giving every song the chance to come to its full glory," Esté says. "It is also a great challenge to work with different people and challenge our comfort zone to grow as musicians," Lourens adds.
The duo met as two ambitious students at Stellenbosch University and after a brief stint in the corporate world, they took to the music industry with their unique sound.
Their live performances have spanned South Africa, Namibia and various countries in Europe. The first show takes place in Sedgefield on 22 December at Against the Grain. Thereafter, they will perform in George at Elvis Brew on 23 December, in Great Brak River at Seeplaas on 29 December, and in Still Bay at Stables on 30 December.
