KNYSNA NEWS - A very warm welcome awaited world-renowned South African music group GoodLuck when they took to the stage last weekend for their first non-summertime show in Knysna.
The popular electronic music collective has become a mainstay on the Plettenberg Bay and Knysna summer musical rosters, courtesy of its annual Get Lucky Summer concert series.
Sadly this series pumped the brakes in 2020 (we all know why) but returned in December 2021/January 2022 with two shows in Plett. While Knysna missed out in the summertime, GoodLuck made sure it was included in their winter tour.

The show not only formed part of the group's national tour, but was also the first in Better Live's musical line-up for the Knysna Oyster Festival under the tent at The Knysna Experience on Thesens Island. The performance was on Saturday 2 July with a sufficiently energetic Steve Umculo as curtain raiser for the night.
GoodLuck lead singer Juliet Harding had tons of fun with the crowd throughout the show.
A born and raised Joburg boykie, Umculo was the perfect opening act with his upbeat musings warming up the expectant crowd.
The air inside the tent might have been chilly at the start, but it didn't stay that way for long, as his sing-along melodies and dance-inducing grooves had everyone moving at his command. He oozes positive energy that seeps through into his live performances, making one and all walk away with a smile and skip in their step.
The crowd was buzzing and chomping at the bit when the headliner trio took to the stage. Their energy was infectious and had the audience jiving and singing to their blend of electronic-pop, afro-house, jazz and other genres.
GoodLuck lead singer Juliet Harding had tons of fun with the crowd throughout the show.
Not a single beat was skipped over the following 60 minutes of non-stop dan-cing, chanting, bouncing and weaving as GoodLuck treated the crowd to songs that traversed their entire 11-year musical journey, paying homage to music from yesteryear with remixes of classics such as Fleetwood Mac's hit Dreams and Michael Jackson's Beat It, as well as unreleased compositions. The show wrapped up with an encore performance of their second single, Hop On/Hop Off, which was released in 2012.
It was a great end to a phenomenal show, and GoodLuck will be raring and ready to go for their Get Lucky Winter concert this coming Saturday at Grand Africa Lookout Beach in Plett.
