GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Budding Garden Route acting talent recently had the privilege of taking part in acting workshops hosted by veteran South African actor Jacques Gombault.
The Garden Route Film & TV acting workshops, led and hosted by Gombault and organised in association with the Garden Route Film Commission, were held on 1 and 2 April in Hartenbos and 3 and 4 April in George with the goal of inspiring people of all ages, races, and backgrounds to act in front of the camera.
It was an experience that not only built self-confidence, but also gave insight into what goes on behind the camera and what responsibilities the actors and other film crew members have on set during the making of a film. Gombault is known for various roles in TV and films such as Song vir Katryn, Binnelanders, 7de Laan, District 9, The Bang Bang Club and Silverton Siege. He has also produced the movie Khumbula: I Will Remember.
Acting workshops for movie and soap roles were provided for the aspiring actors. Known roleplaying scenarios provided them with the information they needed to learn and act out.
They created their own scenes, recorded themselves on video, and learned how to edit them.
"Thanks to Jacques and his outstanding teaching skills, they acquired so much knowledge while having a fantastic time," said Patrick Walton, chairperson of the Garden Route film Commission.
