Gangs of Ballet
Gangs of Ballet released their debut album, ‘yes/no/grey.’ in August 2013.
Within 12 hours of its release, the album went to number 1 on on the iTunes Top 10 SA Album Charts.
‘yes/no/grey.’ was recorded at Openroom Studios in Greenside, Johannesburg earlier this year and produced by Grammy Award winning producer, Darryl Torr.
The band describes the album as melodic and diverse with more in-depth musicianship.
Their main focus with the album was to
connect with listeners and the themes around the music revolves around life, love and questions.
Zebra & Giraffe
Zebra & Giraffe are one of South Africa’s leading alternative rock bands.
Since forming in 2008 they have released 3 full-length albums, two of which have won the SAMA award for Best Rock Album. They have also had unprecedented success on National radio with 17 singles being play listed off their 3 albums.
The band consists of founding members Greg Carlin (vocals, guitar, keyboards) & Alan Shenton (lead guitar) as well as the newly formed rhythm
section of Mike Wright (drums) & Stef Henrico (bass, keyboards).
As a live act they have toured extensively across South Africa, headlining all of
the country's major festivals. They have also played alongside The Killers, Snow Patrol, Oasis, Sum41, Prodigy and Panic at the Disco. In 2009
they were invited to play at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Nairobi, Kenya where they scooped the award for Best Alternative Album.
