Masithande's Forget-Me-Nots, a group of senior citizens who meet weekly, cheered and screeched with laughter as the models paraded either their own clothing or the borrowed items from the Masithandane's clothing bank.
"This fashion show was the theme for the fun morning," said Barbara Pitt, Masithandane care-works coordinator. Lucelle Nell, Masithandane community care worker added, "These elderly people are often told what to do and how to do it, but we thought that a fun morning would offer some light in their sometimes difficult lives."
Several Forget-Me-Not members joined staff members on the ramp. "Some of the Masithandane staff members 'lost the plot' to the amusement of the audience. It was a really memorable morning and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present," concluded Pitt.
The Forget-me-Nots will again enjoy entertainment by the staff when they celebrate Masithandane's anniversary on June 25. The Joy Group will prepare an anniversary lunch for approximately 80 to 90 Forget-Me-Nots, while the staff members will perform a skit for their entertainment.
The smile on Susan Solomon's face is just as bright as the colourful outfit she modelled during the Masithandane fashion show held on May 28.
These 16 models took to the ramp to entertain a group of senior citizens at Sedgefield's NGO, Masithandane.
