KNYSNA NEWS - If you go to Leisure Isle in Knysna this weekend you are sure to have some fun as it’s festival time again, with the island transforming itself into Treasure Isle for the annual two-day festival on 4 and 5 November at Kingsway Park.
With so many attractions and activities, all the family will find lots to do.
This is the festival with something for everyone and, as usual, a mix of things old – the ever-popular favourites – and things new.
The new attractions include an area where crafters will demonstrate their skills and how they make their products.
Come along and watch them demonstrate bird carving from wood, glass staining, wood turning and carpentry, knife making and sewing.
There will also be an artist who will sketch your portrait.
Look out for the new demonstration area and check the programme to see who is doing what.
Keep a lookout for a surprise "happening" that will really bring excitement to the festivities.
The festival is the perfect opportunity to kickstart your Christmas shopping with a huge choice of stalls to browse – an exciting selection of high-quality arts and crafts, Hospice’s massive sale of second-hand books, toys, roses and other garden plants, cakes, preserves and other foods to take away.
There will be a wide choice of food stalls offering food from around the world with something to suit everyone’s taste.
And while you shop till you drop, the younger generation is well catered for at the new kids’ Fun Corner, run by Knysna Basin Project, where there are prizes to be won and fun to be had with the treasure hunt (prizes for everyone), face painting, bouncing castle, apple bobbing and other fun competitions.
And that old favourite, the choo-choo ride, is also based at Fun Corner.
As usual, there will be a wide choice of food stalls offering food from around the world with something to suit everyone’s taste, including boerie rolls, Thai meals, Mama Persello’s wonderful Italian dishes, Indian curries, hot dogs, donuts, pastries to die for and your favourites from Kilzer’s Kitchen.
And, of course, the e’Pap beer tent and pub where you can also enjoy Painted Wolf wines, the Hospice’s tea garden, delicious Bru Coffee, and lots, lots more.
Our new sound jockeys – DaveyMac and IanMac – will be there throughout the two days entertaining you with music and keeping you informed about what’s on.

So make sure it’s on your calendar, bring friends and family and come and enjoy yourselves… And remember, you are also helping raise vital funds for the nine benefiting charities that need help more than ever this year.
Last year, you helped raise nearly R250 000 for them, and the festival organisers intend to do even better this year.
