PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay is well known for its golden beaches and natural beauty, but many visitors don't know that the town is no slouch when it comes to adventure.
That is why Plett Tourism will be launching what they have dubbed the Plett High Five adventure week at the World Travel Market Africa (WTM) 2019 to be held at the Cape Town Convention Centre between 10 and 12 April this year.
Plett Tourism will be participating with the regional tourism body as well as other Garden Route local tourism office representatives.
The Plett High Five week will be between 23 and 29 September and will showcase the town as an adventure destination.
Plett Tourism spokesperson Patty Butterworth said the area is home to more than 40 adventure activities from canyoning, abseiling, zip-lining, scuba and sky diving to swimming with seals, quad biking, blackwater tubing and base camp for leaping off the world's highest bungy bridge.
Butterworth said while there are substantial options if you are an adrenalin junkie, Plett also offers visitors a chance to throttle down with a variety of other activities to balance out the thrill. These include horse and hiking trails, stand-up paddling (SUP), kayaking, surfing, deep-sea angling, marine safaris and animal sanctuaries.
"WTM Africa is a fantastic platform to launch new products, to meet travel professionals and to experience the South African travel industry.
"With a vibrant, culturally diverse audience of tourism professionals in South Africa and international travel professionals, our four representatives are increasing brand exposure, generating new sales leads, strengthening existing relationships and closing new business," Butterworth said.
In addition to launching the High Five week, she added, Plett Tourism would be accompanied by two of the Plett High Five adventure producers at WTM: Hog Hollow Horse Trails and Ocean Sailing Charters.
