KNYSNA NEWS - At just 13 years of age, Enzo Fourie has already achieved incredible things in the world of karate.
What began as a new hobby in August 2023 has quickly turned into a serious passion and an inspiring journey towards achieving a lifelong dream, competing in the Karate World Championships in Japan in September/October this year as part of the World Shotokan Karate-Do Federation South Africa.
A rising star
Since starting karate, Enzo has proved to be a natural talent. Beginning as a white belt, he has advanced rapidly, skipping two to three belts with each grading.
Now proudly sporting a green 3 belt, Enzo's progress is nothing short of extraordinary. His dedication and drive have already earned him recognition at the South African Nationals in Bloemfontein, from where he brought home three medals: a silver in kumite (free fighting), another silver in free fighting, and a bronze in kata.
Road to Japan
Enzo's dream to compete on the international stage is one step closer, but it's not without its challenges. He needs to raise R55 000 to cover the costs of the 16-day trip to Japan, which includes training, accommodation, and other expenses.
Enzo has raised R2 515 through his BackaBuddy campaign, but there is still a long way to go to reach his goal.
