KNYSNA NEWS - Tamaryn Le Chat (21), a talented striker who plays for the Knysna-based football club, Southern Stars, and a graduate of Cambridge International School, has been making great strides in the football world and will next month be Spain-bound for a football tour.
Tamaryn has been playing football for nine years and has grabbed the attention of Spanish club Real Betis, earning her a spot on the prestigious tour to Spain from 15 to 22 December.
The invitation to attend the tour comes after she participated in the Real Betis soccer camp in Paarl from 16 to 18 May.
Tamaryn has also caught the eye of a club that plies its trade in the Hollywoodbets Super League – SA's top tier of women's club football – ahead of the upcoming season.
She has already conducted trials with the club, which went well for the young football star. This isn't the first time her talent has been recognised. Her achievements throughout her sporting career have solidified her immense passion for the game. In 2019 she received the Southern Stars' Best Player Award.
"Soccer to me means everything and this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity means the world to me," she says. "This beautiful game has made me realise that resilience, passion and talent get you ahead in the world and shaped me for who I am today."
The opportunity for a young athlete to travel abroad and expand their talent should not be missed. However, it also comes with the financial responsibility of making the dream come true.
If any members of the public would like to assist in helping Tamaryn attend the tour they can contact her mother Sarie at Yantam328@gmail.com or phone 076 032 81652.
