KNYSNA NEWS - Despite being out of form, 2025 Safa Eden Presidential Cup title winner FC United defeated the George-based Simunye 1-0 in a regional league fixture at the Lawaaikamp Stadium in George on Saturday 29 March.
The Knysna team had a slow start to the 2024/25 season, dropping crucial points. With five games remaining, they are struggling to reach the top eight positions, while Simunye, from George, are fighting for the top five.
FC United kicked off and built their moves using their speedy left winger. Simunye fought hard to score, but several attempts at the goal came to nothing.
A foul by Simunye led to a goal for FC United scored by Siyamthanda Lukasi, making the score 1-0.
The second half had some fine moments with skilful ball-handling by both sides. Linamandla Mbangi of FC United gave a stand-out performance initiating strong driving moves from the centre of the field and controlling the back line.
However, with no goals scored in the second half, FC United came out victorious and collected maximum points.
