PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plett side Oriented Birds are aiming for positive results at home when they lock horns with the Cape Town outfit Grassy Park United in a Western Cape ABC Motsepe League encounter on Saturday afternoon, 20 January at Kwanokuthula Stadium in Plettenberg Bay.
After the festive season break the Birds will be spreading their wings for the first time in 2024.
The Safa Eden representatives have started life in the ABC Motsepe League at a very slow pace, missing out on crucial points in their opening league games.
Both teams are fighting their way up to the top five in the Stream B log. The home team has so far played four fixtures with one victory and three losses, sitting in seventh place with three points.
This while Grassy Park United currently occupy fifth position after playing four league games with one win, two draws and one defeat earning five points.
According to Oriented Birds captain, Sinethemba Batyi, the preparations for the first game in 2024 are going well so far and the team spirits are very high.
"Amajita [players] are pushing very hard and gelling well with each other after the Christmas break," he said.
He added that it's not going to be an easy game for sure, but to collect all the maximum points on Saturday afternoon against Grassy Park United it's going to be very important for the Birds.
Batyi said that they've been saying that it's not about them as OB, but it's for their community including the Garden Route at large.
"I am looking forward to Saturday's game and their support will be much appreciated. The massive support we receive in our community and even outside Plettenberg Bay is really amazing and we appreciate everyone."
