KNYSNA | PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - All four of the cricket clubs in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay ended the year with victories during last weekend's round of games.
Pirates United were the only ones with two fixtures on hand, their first team playing against Riversdale A in the SWD Promotion League A on Saturday 11 December and their second team against Plett Pioneers C in the SWD Reserve League on Sunday 12 December.
Pioneers' first and second teams had a bye for the weekend.
Knysna Cavaliers' first team also had a bye while their second and third teams faced off in the Reserve League on Sunday. The Kranshoek Dolphins' first team played their first game of the season in the SWD Promotion League B against Kwanonqaba's first team on Saturday.
Cavaliers B vs Cavaliers C
In the Cavaliers derby it was third team captain Marcoe van Eyssen that won the toss and chose to bowl at Loerie Park.
Mark McCabe top-scored for Cavaliers B with 31 runs, and with help from fellow opener Dean Dollie (25 runs), saw his side to 161 all out. Bradley Booysen was Cavaliers C's bowler of the day with five wickets for 29 runs in 8,3 overs.
In Cavaliers C's chase, Ryan Shearer and Rudie Cronjé shared top-scorer spoils with 16 runs each as they were bowled out for 73 runs, handing the second team an 88-run victory. Werner Mels was Cavaliers B's bowler of the day with four wickets for 23 runs in 10 overs.
Pirates B vs Pioneers C
Pioneers won the toss and chose to bat on their home field in New Horizons. They were ultimately bowled out for 95 with Cruz Fourie top-scoring with a well-played 43 runs. Edwin Lucas was Pirates' best bowler of the day, claiming six wickets for 11 runs in 7,5 overs.

Lucas also contributed to the chase with 20 runs while Jody de Koker top-scored with 37 runs as Pirates B won by six wickets. Fourie shone for Pioneers once again, taking all four wickets for only 21 runs in his eight overs.

Dolphins A vs Kwanonqaba A
Played in Kranshoek, the home side won the toss and chose to bowl. This paid off as they bowled out the visitors for only 71 runs with Trevidian Taylor (15 runs) top-scoring for Kwanonqaba. Byron Olivier was Dolphins' best bowler, claiming four wickets for 17 runs in five overs.
The Dolphins' run chase was swift and with Shanwell Martin firing his way to a top score of 33, they won by eight wickets.
Theodore Cedras and Henco Joseph shared the spoils for Kwanonqaba with one wicket apiece.

Pirates A vs Riversdale A
After the long haul to Riversdale, Pirates were asked to bowl first by the home side.
Riversdale could only make their way to 130 before being bowled out with Jason van Rensburg (47 runs) top-scoring. Pirates' bowling was a team effort as Justin Meyer, Tyler Bezuidenhout and Marquin Stevens all claimed two wickets.
Pirates' batsmen made light work of the run chase. Jade Titus scored 25 runs, Errol Martin 44 not out, with Curnol Thorne top-scoring at 49 not out as they won by nine wickets. Cheslan Cloete claimed Riversdale's only wicket, conceding nine runs in three overs.
