CRICKET NEWS - The three teams from Knysna's two cricket clubs enjoyed a 100% win record last weekend, with Cavaliers' A and C teams as well as Pirates' B team winning their games.
Knysna Cavaliers and Pirates United's teams played in the latest round of fixtures in the SWD Cricket club season on Saturday and Sunday, 19 and 20 November.
Plettenberg Bay Pioneers were the only local club to have all three of their teams in action this weekend, while Kranshoek Dolphins lost their only game during the weekend.
Pioneers A vs Pacaltsdorp United A
The two sides played at Ashford Oval outside Plett, and the home side chose to bowl first at the toss. The Pacaltsdorp batsmen enjoyed the conditions with Bradley Carolus (70) and LeRoi Bredenkamp (59) scoring half-centuries as the team scored 289-6 in 50 overs. Travis Ackermann was the pick of the Pioneers bowlers, taking two wickets for 39 runs in 10 overs.
Unfortunately for Pioneers their batsmen could not emulate this success, with only Jacques Ahrense (59) managing to score a half-century before his side was bowled out for 169. Gert Swart took three wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs for Pacaltsdorp, helping secure a 120-run win. Pacaltsdorp United are second in the Premier League, and Pioneers are seventh.

Cavaliers A vs Sussex A
Sussex chose to bat first in tricky conditions at Loerie Park, and Ravin-Lee Kemmies top-scored with 25 to help the men from Mossel Bay reach 87 all-out. Francois Bonthuys was Cavaliers' star bowler, taking six wickets for only 19 runs in 8,5 overs.
Cavaliers' run chase was no easy task, but unbeaten innings from Hayden Sweet (37) and Quinton Visagie (22) steered them to the target for a four-wicket victory. Bazil George was the pick of the Sussex bowlers, taking four wickets for 19 runs in nine overs. The win is Cavaliers' third bonus point of the season and keeps them top of the Premier League standings.

The Pirates batsmen made light work of the run chase courtesy of a well-played 55 not-out from Stevens and 30 runs for Jowin Jacobs as they won by nine wickets.
Duane Olivier claimed the solitary wicket for 36 runs in five overs. Pirates B are fourth in the group, while Pioneers B are third.
