KNYSNA | BITOU NEWS - While it was a relatively quiet weekend for Knysna and Plett cricket clubs, Cavaliers' second team has earned a spot in the semi-finals of the SWD Reserve League with a win against Pioneers' third team last weekend.
It was an all-Knysna Cavaliers-versus-Plettenberg Bay Pioneers affair in Pool A of the SWD Reserve League on Sunday 20 February, with Cavaliers B facing Pioneers C at Loerie Park and Pioneers B facing Cavaliers C in New Horizons.
In both fixtures the 'B' teams overcame the 'C' teams, with Cavaliers B's win enough to cement their spot in the semi-finals of the league.
Neither Pioneers nor Cavaliers' first teams were in action last weekend, and both Pirates United A and Kranshoek Dolphins enjoyed a bit of rest too. Pirates United B finished their season on a high two weeks ago.

Pioneers B vs Cavaliers C
The home team needed a massive win to stand a chance of making the semi-finals, and required their third team to beat Cavaliers B in Knysna.
Pioneers B however lost the toss, and Cavaliers C sent them in to bat first.
Pioneers B's middle order shone for them, with captain Graeme Jasson top-scoring with 45 runs to help his side reach 170 all out. Deon Engelbrecht and Bradley Booysen took three wickets each for Cavaliers, but Booysen was most economical, conceding 27 runs in his 7,2 overs.
Cavaliers C's chase faltered somewhat, as Hennie Jonk top-scored with 13 before the visitors were bowled out for 50 runs.
Pioneers' opening bowlers Keith Oraai and Leighton Jonas left nothing for any other bowlers to do, with both taking five wickets. Oraai was however most economical, conceding 17 runs in 6,2 overs.
The result sees Pioneers B finish in second place in the pool, behind Cavaliers B.

Cavaliers B vs Pioneers C
The equation for the home side was simple - win the game and they're top of the group and through to the semi-finals. They managed to win the toss, electing to bat first at Loerie Park.
Opening batsman Rickus Rosslee scored an unbeaten 85 runs as he carried his bat through the innings with Cavaliers B reaching 225-6 in 50 overs.
Norman Solomons claimed two wickets for 39 runs in 10 overs as Pioneers' best bowler.
Pioneers' run chase never found momentum. Gurshin Booysen top-scored with five runs as they were bowled out for only 25 runs. Byron Jantjies was Cavaliers' most prolific bowler, taking five wickets for 12 runs in six overs.
The win means Cavaliers B finish top of Pool A in the SWD Reserve League, and will face either Western Hope B, Harlequins Forces C, or Masakhane B in the semi-final next weekend.

In other upcoming action this weekend, Pirates United face Mayflower to try and make it to the semi-finals of Promotion League A while Kranshoek Dolphins play St Georges as they seek a spot in the Promotion League B semi-finals.
Plettenberg Bay Pioneers will also be in action again this weekend as their first team plays against George in the play-off of the Premier League to determine who progresses to the final.
All of the games are to be played on Saturday 26 February.
